Couple matches gifts

 |

Pledge will benefit poor Mecklenburg families.

CHARLOTTE, N.C., [2.19.04] – Donations to the Crisis Assistance Ministry will be doubled until the end of March, thanks to a pledge by local residents Susan and Al Winget.

The couple will match, dollar for dollar, all monetary donations to the group, up to a total of $50,000.

Crisis Assistance Ministry helps families in financial crisis in Mecklenburg County by assisting with rent and utility payments, household items, clothing and appliances.

Susan Winget is an award-winning artist and her husband, Al, is a first vice president with the Charlotte office of Morgan Stanley.

“Crisis Assistance provides such a critical service to people who are facing eviction and utility disconnection,” Susan Winget says in a statement. “We hope that the community will respond to this opportunity to have their gift doubled.”

Donations will be matched through March 31, 2004. For information, visit crisisassistance.org.
