The role of charities in advocacy depends on the mission of the organization.

In most cases, I believe, it is irresponsible not to be involved in advocacy.

This can take various forms, but must not include involvement in an individual campaign through contributions.

Clearly, staff of a charity may and often should be involved in raising issues of importance to the organization and the people it is intended to benefit.
