Schools award endowed

 |

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — The Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation has created a $250,000 endowment that will support an annual award for the most improved high school in Guilford County.

Based on criteria already established, the school that has shown the most improvement each year will receive the Hubert B. Humphrey Jr. Award, including $10,000 to be spent for professional development for teachers, along with possession for one year of the Humphrey Cup, created by Schiffman’s Jewelers in Winston-Salem.

The award honors the late senior partner of Greensboro law firm Brooks, Pierce, McLendon & Leonard who served as a member of the Reynolds board of trustees from 1981 until his death in March 2003.

The Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro will administer the endowment.
