CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Arts & Science Council has set a goal of $10.5 million for its 2005 annual fund drive, up from $10.3 million raised last year.
The council provides operating support to 27 groups that fund artists, arts education and programs that expand access to the arts, science and history in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg area.
Almost 40,000 donors contribute to the annual campaign, some through workplace giving programs in about 300 area businesses, the group says, with $7 of every $10 coming from individuals and the remainder from corporations and foundations
Co-chairs of the drive, scheduled to run from January 18 through February 28, are Anna Spangler Nelson of C.D. Spangler Construction, and Thomas C. Nelson of National Gypsum.
