Grants outlook bright

 |

Eight in 10 Minnesota foundations and corporations plan to increase grant dollars in the coming year, a new survey says.

The study by the Minnesota Council on Foundations says that of those predicting increases, more than four in 10 foresee granting up to 4 percent, while more than three in 10 expect grants to rise 5 percent or more.

The strengthening economy boosted corporate profits and foundation assets, the study says, with more than eight in 10 foundations reporting growth in assets last year, compared with almost six in 10 the year before.

Given the results, the Council expects grantmakers to increase grant dollars by 3 percent to 6 percent this year and about two in three say they have no plans to change their funding priorities in the coming year.
