NonProfit Times settles suit

 |

Kevin Landers, former publisher of The NonProfit Times, admitted taking proprietary and confidential information from the company and using it to launch a competing publication.

The admission was part of the settlement of a lawsuit, in which no money changed hands but in which Landers and his current employer, North American Publishing, also a defendant, agreed not to use the information in the future.

The lawsuit, filed in 2003 by NPT Publishing Group, charged Landers with taking confidential information from the company before he left, including annual and projected budget figures, salary and production costs, revenue data and advertisers’ contact information.

Landers allegedly used the information to start a competitive publication called Fundraising Success.
