A coalition of diverse business and advocacy groups has formed to push for more state funding for affordable housing.
The coalition, called the Campaign for Housing Carolina, is asking lawmakers to provide $50 million annually to the North Carolina Housing Trust Fund, a source of state money used to build and rehabilitate housing for low-income and disabled people.
Members of the coalition are the A.J. Fletcher Foundation, N.C. Bankers Association, N.C. Coalition Against Domestic Violence, N.C. Homebuilders Association, United Way of North Carolina and Republican and Democratic lawmakers sponsoring the legislation.
A formal announcement of the coalition will take place at a news conference at 11 a.m. on April 5 at the Legislative Building in Raleigh.
