To the editor,
I am shocked that your headline in the news roundup [Philanthropy Journal, 08.03.05] refers to the delay in the vote on the estate-tax repeal as “Death-tax vote”.
It has not ever been a “death tax”, as I’m sure you know, and currently affects only the wealthiest estates.
The media has been complicit in picking up the terminology that the administration uses to confuse the actual intent of its actions by implying that every estate is subject to a tax, but I would have expected that you would not fall prey to this game.
