CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — The Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina Foundation in Chapel Hill has launched a new mini-grants program.
Meant to aid smaller nonprofits that provide health-related services to rural North Carolina communities, the new grants category aims to increase funding opportunities for organizations with budgets of less than $500,000 and that may not be able to compete against larger organizations.
Mini-grants range in size from $1,500 to $5,000 and will be awarded four or five times a year.
The foundation previously had accepted applications twice a year, awarding grants averaging between $10,000 and $15,000.
The foundation will continue its efforts to provide increased funding opportunities for North Carolina nonprofits by launching two new grant categories before the end of the year.
