LTFL is a 501c3 nonprofit dedicated to the education of people with mental illnesses and the public at large regarding the stigmas thereof. We are teaching psychosocial management and wellness, as well as life skills and skills related to employ-ability. We could use donations and information on same.
United Nations Association of the USA, Westchester Chapter
UNA-USA/Westchester educates and mobilizes the public to support the UN’s work in peace, development, health, education, gender issues, environment and relief. We collaborate with colleges and schools through Model UNs, Student Alliances, etc. Our “Going Global with the UN” TV series presents films about the UN at work.
Lutheran Family Services in the Carolinas
We serve over 10,000 children and families annually through adoption, foster care, counseling, group homes for children and special needs adults, prison ministry, partnerships with churches and community groups, refugee resettlement, immigration services, and disaster response. In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, we now coordinate services for displaced evacuees.
The Center for Employment Training (CET)
CET is a 10 year-old, private, nonprofit, community-based, accredited job-skills training and placement program. CET seeks to promote the human development and education of low-income people by providing them with marketable skills training and supportive services that contribute to economic self-sufficiency.
The Moravian Music Foundation
MMF is one of the largest archives of 18th and 19th century music in America preserving, sharing and celebrating over 10,000 music manuscripts, early imprints and primary source documents. MMF conducts and fosters scholarly research, produces books, monographs and recordings, and edits and produces music.
Winston-Salem Rescue Mission
Since 1967, the Winston-Salem Rescue Mission of North Carolina, a Christian, non-denominational service ministry, has met the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of chronically homeless men. The mission enables the serious-minded man to become drug- and alcohol-free, have his dignity restored and become a productive member of society. http://wwww.WSRescue.org
Wood World Missions
Wood World Missions is a nonprofit charity Christian organization caring for the needy and destitute orphans and youths in Malawi and Ghana. WWM was set up in 2000 to help bring joy to their lives through programs providing daily food, basic needs, and education. Most of these children have no parents due to AIDS.
Better People opened in 1998 in Portland, Oregon, to dramatically reduce former offenders’ return to crime by using four primary services: cognitive behavioral therapy- Moral Reconation Therapy®, Job Readiness training; employment assistance; and, employment retention. Better People has enrolled over a 1,000 clients and assisted over 450 in gaining employment.
Central Indiana Land Trust Inc.
Central Indiana Land Trust is a conservation organization that owns and manages 14 nature preserves. Recognizing a strong economy and continued high quality of life is related to the environment, our mission is to preserve biological diversity and enhance life in Central Indiana through land acquisition, stewardship and education.
REACH Ministries is a small nonprofit extending compassionate care to those affected by HIV/AIDS and all life-threatening illnesses and situations. We provide year-round support for these families through developmental activities, mentors, parties, education, and youth service leadership training.
