Triangle United Way falling short

Triangle United Way is projecting it will fall $500,000 short of its goal of raising $11 million during its 2005 fund drive.

With one week remaining, United Way is asking individuals and companies to give, or increase their gifts, to close the gap.

As of Dec. 2, 90 percent of campaigns had reported results, United Way says.

It says several local companies have provided strong support, including Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina, which exceeded its goal by $50,000 to reach $572,000, and WakeMed Health and Hospitals employees, who increased their giving 31 percent from last year to more than $500,000.
