Autism walk raises $575,000

 |

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The annual Carolinas Walk for Autism Research raised $575,000 this year for its parent organization, Autism Speaks.

More than 2,000 people converged on Lowe’s Motor Speedway near Charlotte Oct. 10 to support the nonprofit’s efforts to fund research on the cause of autism, better treatments and a cure.

The walk began in 2000 through the National Alliance for Autism Research, which recently joined operations with Autism Speaks.
