Blackbaud earnings grow

Blackbaud, the Charleston, S.C., provider of software and services for nonprofits, reported net income of $8.5 million on total revenue of $49.9 million for the third quarter ended Sept. 30, up from net income of $7.7 million on total revenue of $43.1 million in the same period last year.

Diluted earnings per share totaled 19 cents, up from 17 cents in the third quarter last year.

The company’s board of directors declared a fourth-quarter dividend of 7 cents per share payable on Dec. 15, 2006, to stockholders of record on Nov. 28, 2006.

Blackbaud said it had cash and cash equivalents of $54.3 million on Sept. 30, up $23.3 million from the end of the previous quarter.

The company said over 15,000 organizations use its products and consulting services for fundraising, financial management, business intelligence, web-site management, school administration and ticketing.
