Teach for America hits records

Teach for America placed its largest group of corps members ever in struggling schools across the U.S. this fall, the group reports.

The organization, which places recent college graduates in needy schools in rural and urban communities, boasts a contingent of 4,400 corps members this year, and they are reaching 375,000 students, it says.

Teach for America reports that 2,400 people entered the program this year, chosen from a pool of 19,000 applicants

Corps members commit to two years of teaching in underserved public schools spread across 25 communities.
