David Rockefeller announces planned bequest to fight poverty, illness.

* David Rockefeller, co-founder and advisory trustee of Rockefeller Brothers Fund, announced plans to make $225 million bequest to fund’s endowment to create David Rockefeller Global Development Fund to combat poverty, health and development problems worldwide.

* Pittsburgh Symphony received $29.5 million gift from R.P. Simmons family, largest gift ever received by an American orchestra, as catalyst for major endowment campaign.

* Bristol-Myers Squibb donated $225,000 of pediatric antibiotics to Catholic Medical Mission Board’s Action for Family Health program, to help more than 110,000 children in Honduras, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Dominican Republic and Haiti.

* Urban Concepts, division of marketing agency US Concepts, made $25,000 donation to Upliftment Jamaica, organization providing computers and educational programs to Jamaicans.
