Nonprofits can engage students

To the editor

In response to your editorial [“Civic generation gains clout”, 11.15.06]:

Progressive ways for nonprofits to cultivate the younger generations’ passion for mission-based work while adding to their own sustainability include engaging high school and college students as interns — and inviting major donor support to cover expenses — adding them to advisory councils, and inviting representation to the board.

This would begin to groom a wonderful pool of talent for future staffing and/or leadership positions.
