Mental health grants awarded

Research into the causes and treatment of severe mental illnesses received a $19 million boost from NARSAD: The Mental Health Research Association.

The Association announced grants to 273 new and established scientists in the United States and abroad, ranging from $30,000 to $100,000.

The group’s Staglin Family Music Festival NARSAD Schizophrenia Research Award, worth $250,000, was given to Dr. Eva Anton, a researcher at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

The grant will fund Anton’s research on the developmental pathways of Schizophrenia.
