Charlotte YWCA gets boost

 |

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The YWCA Central Carolinas is closer to reaching its capital campaign goal, and improving the lives of women and children in Charlotte, thanks to a challenge grant from the Kresge Foundation.

The foundation, based in Troy, Mich., pledged $500,000 to the YWCA, provided the nonprofit can raise the $1.2 million remaining in its $7.5 million More Than A Roof Campaign over the next 10 months.

The campaign was launched to fund capital improvements and expand the group’s programming, including the launch of its new Families Together program, which will provide a variety of services for at-risk families with children.

Once the project is complete, the YWCA will be able to house more than 100 homeless women and children annually at its Park Road facility in Charlotte.
