Lenoir-Rhyne gets largest gift ever

 |

HICKORY, N.C. — Thanks to largest gift ever donated to Lenoir-Rhyne College, the school will soon begin development of the Moretz Sports Center, as well as establish a scholarship for nursing students.

The sports facility, to be used by the school’s varsity teams, will be built with the help of a $5.1 million gift from John and Marilyn Moretz, given to the college through the Piedmont Educational Foundation.

The gift also will create the Steven Harris Moretz scholarship for nursing students, to be established in memory of the donors’ son.

Both husband and wife are graduates of the college and members of its Founders Society. John Moretz is CEO of GoldToeMoretz, which provides socks for the college’s athletic teams.
