University-industry partnership gets $1 million

DURHAM, N.C. – A partnership between Duke University and Duke Energy to study the effects of global climate change received a $1 million boost from the MeadWestvaco Corporation, an international packaging company.

The four-year Climate Change Policy Partnership initiative was launched by the university and the company in 2006.

The partnership unites experts at Duke Energy with the resources of the school’s Nicholas Institute for Environmental Policy Solutions, the Nicholas School of the Environment and Earth Sciences and the Center on Global Change.

MeadWestvaco’s gift will support research and policy analysis surrounding the impact of climate change on forest resources.
