Mental illness gets little attention

 |

To the editor,

A person with a mental illness can live a lifetime in misery and suffering as well as his caregiver and family.

We give more comfort to criminals than persons with a mental illness.

The news media give more attention to mistreated animals than the treatment of persons with a mental illness, except when the vultures are hovering over the vast acreage of Dix Hospital [“For Dix campus, put patients’ needs first”, 03.01.07].
