Food pantry collects 84 tons of food

 |

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Mecklenburg County food pantry program boasting that it has never turned a client away for lack of food, collected an additional 160,000 pounds of food during a recent drive.

Loaves & Fishes partnered with Harris Teeter, WCNC6, WSOC 103.7, Stegall Trucking and The Boy Scouts of America for its annual February Food Drive, which collected donations through Harris Teeter stores and other drop-off sites across the county.

The pantry received another 49,000 pounds of food from Compass Group, The America’s Division, as a result of the food service company’s annual Food Fight, in which departments within the company’s Charlotte location competed in collecting food for Loaves & Fishes.
