High Point posts largest gift ever

 |

HIGH POINT, N.C. — High Point University received a major windfall in its $110 million campaign when David R. Hayworth pledged the single largest gift in the school’s history, bringing his family’s total investment to more than $25 million.

The unrestricted contribution is one in a long line from Hayworth and his brother, Charles, who died in 1994.

It will boost the school’s fundraising total to $85 million under President Nido Qubein, who took his post at the head of the university two years ago.

Qubein launched the campaign at the start of his tenure to fund the construction of 11 new buildings and the renovation of 500,000 square feet in existing structures.
