Challenge grant for N.C. Zoo

 |

ASHEBORO, N.C. — An anonymous donor has made a $25,000 challenge grant to support construction of a permanent honey-bee exhibit at the North Carolina Zoo in Asheboro.

The North Carolina Zoological Society, the fundraising arm of the Zoo, says the gifts is a challenge to members of the North Carolina State Beekeepers Association and other individuals to complete fundraising for the exhibit.

Beekeepers in the state and the Beekeepers Association already have contributed to the project, and the anonymous gift brings to $114,000 the total raised for the project.

The Zoo Society has set a goal of raising $160,000 for the project.
