Board development opportunity

 |

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Executive Service Corps of the Charlotte Region is offering nonprofits the opportunity to evaluate and strengthen their boards of directors through a two-phased process that includes professional consulting services.

Called Building Better Boards, phase one of the effort is limited to 50 organizations.

After completing a confidential online self-assessment, nonprofits will receive an evaluation of their boards from Hughes Consulting Group, as well as a set of customized recommendations.

Groups having completed phase one will be eligible to participate in the second half of the program, which involves a two-day intensive training for board chairs, vice chairs and executive directors, as well as 16 hours of customized free consulting from BoardSource on governance issues.

The cost to participating nonprofits is $50 and the executive service corps estimates the value of the program at $15,000.

The effort is sponsored by Foundation for the Carolinas in Charlotte and the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation in Winston-Salem.

Interested groups must register for the first phase by June 27 and complete the initial online assessment by July 6.
