Community grants awarded in Triangle

DURHAM, N.C. – The Triangle Community Foundation has awarded a total of nearly $400,000 in grants to 30 organizations in four counties to support efforts to promote either civic engagement or youth leadership and development.

The Community Grantmaking Program, which the $120 million-asset foundation launched in January, supports nonprofits in Chatham, Durham, Orange and Wake counties with annual budgets of less than $750,000.

The average grant size in the first round of grantmaking was $12,500.

Grants under the program will be made each spring and fall, with applications for the fall 2007 cycle available starting July 6 on the foundation’s website at www.trianglecf.org and due Aug. 24.
