WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — The Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust has awarded a total of almost $15.9 million in grants to serve the health-care needs of low-income North Carolinians.

The awards from the Trust’s health-care division included 20 grants to hospitals across the state totaling $3.8 million that will be used for facilities, equipment and programming aimed at serving low-income and uninsured residents.

The largest single grant of $1.4 million went to FirstHealth of the Carolinas, located in Pinehurst, to launch Healthy Living in the Mid-Carolinas, a program serving the poor in Hoke, Montgomery, Moore and Richmond counties.
