Child Care Resources turns 25

 |

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Child Care Resources of Charlotte is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a year of special events that kicked off July 1 and will run through June 2008.

The organization, which provides child-care referral services and training and support for child-care providers, was the result of a partnership between United Way of Central Carolinas and Mecklenburg County’s Department of Social Services.

Today, Child Care Resources employs 115 people, operates on a budget of $10.2 million and manages $43.6 million in financial aid from the state and other sources for child care subsidies.

In fiscal 2006, the agency served almost 15,000 children and almost 10,000 early-childhood professionals.

In the coming year, the group plans several events to mark its first quarter century, including 25 volunteer service projects benefiting child care programs and a major professional development event for early childhood professionals.
