BoardnetUSA founder dies

 |

Brooke W. Mahoney, founder and executive director of the Volunteer Consulting Group, which developed boardnetUSA, died September 7 at age 65.

A native of Long Island, N.Y., Mahoney founded the New York City-based group in partnership with Harvard Business Club of Greater New York in 1969 as a volunteer placement program.

Over the years, she developed it into a national organization focused on bolstering nonprofit boards, and in 2002 launched http://www.boardnetusa.org/, an online platform designed to match matching nonprofits and board members.

The site aims to connect nonprofit needing specific leadership skills with individuals who are willing to serve on boards.

Mahoney served as a director of the Rauch Foundation and the Alliance for Nonprofit Management, and was a member of the International Women’s Forum.
