Western Union invests $50 million in migrants

Western Union Co. and its affiliated foundation have launched a five-year $50 million effort to help migrant families through education and programs that boost economic opportunity.

The “Our World, Our Family” initiative has four component parts designed around giving, education, volunteering and leadership.

Our World Gives involves the company’s consumers, employees and agents, allowing them to pool funds to support causes they care about.

Our World Learns provides family scholarships to address the educational needs of all generations of migrants.

Our World Strives creates a mentor corps of volunteers that provide entrepreneurial and personal-finance support at certain locations, as well as a website and kiosks that provide help for small businesses.

And Our World Speaks will bring together leaders to spur an inclusive approach to economic development and other issues vital to migrant communities.
