Charlotte diabetes foundation names chief

 |

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation has tapped veteran Laura E. Maciag to serve as its executive director.

Following a national search, Maciag comes to the Charlotte group from the national organization’s Northeast Ohio chapter, where she raised more than $2.5 million annually.

Her experience in the nonprofit sector includes heading up the fundraising efforts of the Cleveland Museum of Art, Case Western Reserve University and the Cleveland Orchestra.

Maciag will help the Charlotte chapter, which recruited more than 8,000 volunteers and raised more than $3.5 million last year, raise awareness and funds for research benefiting Type I diabetes, a disease that affects about three million Americans.
