Deutsche Bank invests in teachers

 |

Global financial firm Deutsche Bank is aiming to transform education in underserved communities around the world, starting with a $1 million investment in New York City teachers.

This initial grant is part of the company’s new Teachers as Leaders program, which will kick off in New York City in partnership with the City University of New York and the Schott Foundation for Public Education.

The new program will promote teaching as a career and will work to improve the model for developing teachers through the world.

The New York City effort will focus on better representing black men in the educational system and will involve apprenticeships, mentoring, skills development and scholarships for students.

The program will be run in conjunction with City University’s Black Male Initiative using a design created by the New York City Department of Education.
