Weather Channel funds environment

 |

The Weather Channel and its affiliated foundation are donating $2.5 million to the National Environmental Education Foundation to bring new programming to high school students.

The company’s Landmark Communications Foundation will distribute the funds over the next five years to create an interactive, web-based environmental education program that eventually will reach 20 million students in the U.S.

Content for the program will come from the Weather Channel’s “Forecast Earth” and the Environmental Education Foundation’s instructional programming.

The aim of the program is to provide students with the information they need to understand environmental issues and make informed decisions about how they can conserve energy and protect the environment.
