Middlebury aims for half a billion

 |

Middlebury College has launched the five-year, $500 million “Middlebury Initiative,” which the school says is the largest fundraising campaign ever undertaken by a liberal-arts college.

The college, located in Middlebury, Vt., already has raised $234 million during the planning phase of the effort.

The funds will be used to supplement financial aid, increase student research, support curriculum development and create new opportunities for student creativity and entrepreneurism outside the classroom.

The campaign will be co-chaired by four individuals, all of whom either are alums or parents of Middlebury students: Richard Fuld, Roxanne McCormick Leighton, Kimberly Collins Parizeau and Kendrick Wilson.
