 |

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Two Charlotte-area nonprofits received $200,000 each from the Bank of America Foundation in recognition of their work to promote vibrant communities.

As part of its Neighborhood Excellence Initiative, the foundation presented its 2007 Neighborhood Builders awards, including $200,000 in unrestricted funds, to A Child’s Place of North Carolina, which works to wipe away the impact of homelessness on children, and Coalicion Latinoamericana, a Hispanic service agency.

Another five community leaders were recognized as 2007 Local Heroes and were given the opportunity to direct a $5,000 donation from the foundation to an eligible local charity of their choice.

The foundation also will provide paid summer internships with the YWCA of Central Carolinas to five 2007 Student Leaders chosen for their interest in improving their neighborhoods.
