Challenge grant for Planned Parenthood

 |

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Planned Parenthood of Central North Carolina has received a challenge grant from The Kresge Foundation in Troy, Mich., to help it complete its $5.8 million capital campaign.

Chaired by Mary Mountcastle of Durham-based Self-Help and community volunteer Betsy Hackney of Chapel Hill, the campaign has raised $4.9 million, says Joyce Mitchell-Antoine, chief development officer for Planned Parenthood.

If Planned Parenthood raises nearly $777,000 by June 30, Kresge will provide the final $300,000 to complete the campaign.

Of the $777,000 it needs to raise, Planned Parenthood already has raised $177,000, Mitchell-Antoine says.

Funds from the campaign will be used to expand services throughout the 25-county area Planned Parenthood serves, including a new health center in Fayetteville.
