Ad campaign benefits Boys and Girls Clubs

RALEIGH, N.C. – A national partnership between Boys and Girls Clubs of America and the Outdoor Advertising Association of America will find a local focus in Wake and Durham counties this year.

Fairway Outdoor Advertising Company will donate billboard space to the Be Great advocacy campaign designed to raise awareness of the issues affecting youth today.

“Be Great is a call to action to kids that says they can and must realize their full potential to become productive, responsible and caring citizens,” Ralph Capps, president and CEO of Boys and Girls Clubs of Wake County, says in a statement.

“However, it is also a call to action to adults to raise awareness about the key issues and to generate support for the mission of the Clubs,” he says.

Specifically, the campaign highlights the local clubs’ role in helping kids graduate from high school, develop a health lifestyle and foster positive character traits.

Overall, the campaign will focus on how Boys and Girls Clubs have influenced the lives of famous people, including Denzel Washington, Shaquille O’Neal and General Wesley Clark.

Billboard advertisements will appear throughout the Triangle in 2009.
