Conference on fundraising set

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Association of Fundraising Professionals will hold its fifth annual statewide conference Aug. 12 in Greensboro.

The event, to be held at the Sheraton Hotel at Koury Convention Center, is themed “Aligning for Impact: Connecting the Dots” and is hosted by the Triangle, Triad and Charlotte chapters of the association.

Kim Klein, an author and lecturer at the Haas School of Business at the University of California will deliver the opening keynote address and will lead an educational session, “Creating a Systematic and Disciplined Fundraising Program.

A lunch keynote will be given by Viken Mikaelian, president of Virtual Giving and co-founder of The Planned Giving Company, who also will lead a special session, “Guerilla Marketing for Your Planned-Giving Program.”

Two pre-conference programs will be offered Aug. 10-11. “First Course” is designed for new fundraisers and will cover the major aspects of development.

The “CFRE Review Course” takes a look at the primary components of a comprehensive fundraising program and is designed for professionals with about five years of experience.
