Wyclef Jean’s charity to get only $1 million from telethon

The Hope for Haiti telethon is distributing the first $35 million of the $66 million it has raised, and will give only $1 million to Yele Haiti, Wyclef Jean’s troubled charity, Gawker reported Feb. 19 (see Haiti charity story).

Family feud roils Feed the Children

A family feud is tearing apart Feed the Children, the billion-dollar-a-year charity, with founder Larry Jones on one side, and his daughter Larry Sue and the charity’s board on the other, each accusing the other of financial misproprieties, CBS News reported Feb. 18 (see Feed the Children story).

British care system could fail, report says

The British charity Carers UK says that without reform the British charity system is in danger of collapse because within seven years the number of elderly needing full-time help will outstrip the number of carers, the Daily Mail reported Feb. 19 (see British elder care story).
