Dayton Foundation says it has most gifts

As of June 1, 2009, the Dayton Foundation had 3,135 funds and future gifts, a total the foundation’s president says is the highest among community foundations in the U.S., and The Dayton Daily News reported March 29 (see Dayton Foundation story).

Former candidate for governor to head Dodge Foundation

Chris Daggett, a former independent candidate for governor, has been named president and CEO of the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation in Morristown, one of the biggest private foundations in New Jersey, The Star-Ledger in Newark reported March 29 (see Dodge Foundation story).

Dartmouth made raised tuition in face of endowment plunge

After the endowment at Dartmouth College fell nearly $1 billion in fiscal 2009, or 23 percent of its value, the school raised tuition 4 percent and became one of the first Ivy League schools to offer blanket no-loan financial aid, The Wall Street Journal reported March 25 (see Dartmouth endowment story).
