Sept. 23: Benefit Bank, Humane Society, YWCA, and more

Collaboration of philanthropic groups, corporate contributors, and public and private partnerships in Charlotte launched Benefit Bank of North Carolina, web-based program to help people complete federal and state tax returns and government forms in order to apply for range of benefits and services, in one place, at one time, with no cost to client.


Shelly Moore, former president and CEO, Asheville Humane Society, named president and CEO, Humane Society of Charlotte.


Sarah Stevenson, who led integration of Charlotte-Mecklenburg’s PTA’s in late 1960’s, will to receive Pioneer award from YWCA Central Carolinas for lifetime commitment to promoting social justice; Maria Hanlin, executive director, Mecklenburg Ministries, to receive Community Champion award.
