Oct. 4: Meals on Wheels, Wachovia, Easter Seals UCP, and more

Meals on Wheels of Wake County awarded $5,000 grant from the Meals on Wheels Association of America and Bank of America Charitable Foundation, letting it save roughly 1,400 meals threatened to be cut because of economic climate.


The Wachovia Wells Fargo Foundation awarded $10,000 grant to support Girl Talk Foundation’s Fall College Tour to introduce nearly 100 middle- and high-school girls in Charlotte area to higher education and promote career focus and self-sufficiency.


Easter Seals UCP raised $33,000 at fifth annual Walk With Me event Sept. 25, up $15,000 from last year.


United Arts Council of Raleigh & Wake County received $10,000 grant from Time Warner Cable to develop and pilot a series of new science-based, after-school arts programs at five area high schools.


Arts & Science Council, Charlotte, giving total of $501,051 to support variety of arts, science, history and heritage projects and strategic initiatives for fiscal 2010-11 in addition to $8.3 million announced in July.
