Oct. 15: Arts council, Special Olympics, Corks for Kids, and more

Arts Council of Winston-Salem and Forsyth County raised $27.7 million in three-year comprehensive campaign that ended Sept. 30, including $900,000 challenge grant from Kresge Foundation, Troy, Mich.

Officers from law enforcement agencies and corrections departments across North Carolina raised over $1 million for Special Olympics North Carolina through 2010 North Carolina Law Enforcement Torch Run up 5 percent from 2009.

Corks for Kids event on Sept. 25 raised $100,000 for N.C. Children’s Hospital.

Stewards Fund, Raleigh, will match up to $50,000, dollar-for-dollar, from Oct. 1, 2010, through Dec. 31, 2010, gifts to Durham Rescue Mission by new donors, donors who did not give in 2009, or donors who increase previous giving.

CORRAL Riding Academy received over $3,000 in cash and gift cards from staff of Cary Pediatric Dentistry for young women served through the program.
