Convio revenue and net income grow

PJ staff report

Convio, a provider of constituent-engagement solutions for nonprofits, reported net income of $1.5 million for the three months ended Sept. 30, or 8 cents per weighted average diluted shares, compared to $475,000, or 3 cents a share, in the same period last year.

Total revenue grew to nearly $17.9 million from $16.2 million a year ago.

In the first nine months of 2010, Austin, Tex.-based Convio says, over 1,300 nonprofit clients raised over $1 billion online, a total the company says was estimated  five years ago to be the total raised online in the nonprofit sector.

Convio says its clients raised over $252 million in online donations in the third quarter, up 34 percent from the same period last year.

It also says its clients sent nearly one billion email messages to constituents, with an average deliverability rate of more than 95 percent.

Gene Austin, the company’s chairman and CEO, says in a statement that, in addition to “well-known brands and nationally-known events, our results also reflect the value of peer-to-peer fundraising to support local and regional events.”
