Nov. 10: California HealthCare, Covidien, Safeway, and more

California HealthCare Foundation launched $10-million investment fund targeting nonprofits and for-profit companies with innovative services, devices, and technologies that can significantly reduce costs and improve access to care in California.


Covidien, health-care-products company, has donated total of over $5 million in products, grants and cash to Direct Relief International’s global-health programs and emergency-relief efforts.


Safeway Inc. raised $16.1 million in October to combat breast cancer, with funds donated at checkout by Safeway customers throughout North America to support research, treatment and early detection.
