Frederick Young, retired owner and CEO, Young Radiator Co., pledged $11 million to Cornell University toward design and construction of Cerro Chajnantor Atacama Telescope to be built in high Andes of northern Chile.

Charles H. Revson Foundation pledged $1 million over two years to WNYC Radio to support new digital journalism initiative using radio, digital and broadband technology to build greater capacity for coverage and conversation around issues facing Greater New York area.

Rich and Nancy Kinder, Houston, giving $15 million to Rice University to support expanded research by its Institute for Urban Research, to be named Kinder Institute for Urban Research.
