GSK awards $360,000 in grants

PJ staff report RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. – Recognizing nonprofits that are improving access to health care for underserved communities, GlaxoSmithKline has awarded $40,000 to each of nine local nonprofits. The grants are part of the corporation’s IMPACT awards, which honor organizations that have had a significant in their local communities. Nonprofits will use the funds, which total $360,000, to continue their work at a time when demand for their services is increasing. The following organizations received awards:

  • Benson Area Medical Center, Benson
  • Club Horizon, Knightdale
  • Community Health Coalition, Durham
  • El Futuro, Durham
  • Family Violence Prevention Center, Raleigh
  • Healing with CAARE, Durham
  • North Carolina Dental Health Fund, Cary
  • Pretty in Pink, Raleigh
  • Student Action with Farmworkers, Durham
