Dec. 14: N.C. Community Foundation, Executive Service Corps, Salvation Army, and more

North Carolina Community Foundation awarded $983,368 in scholarships and educational grants in 2010, including $459,355 in direct scholarship aid to 280 students from across the state, among them 97 scholarships to first-generation college students, plus $524,013 in grant money to educational institutions for purpose of awarding scholarships to students attending those schools.

Executive Service Corps of the Triangle in 2010 received financial assistance from BIN Foundation; Michael Warner and Betty Craven Fund at Triangle Community Foundation; Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina; Durham Merchants Association; Maxwell,Freeman & Bowman; Strowd Roses Foundation; Triangle Community Foundation; and Wachovia/Wells Fargo Foundation.

Salvation Army of Durham distributing holiday gift donations to over 2,000 children, with gifts gathered through organization’s Angel Tree donations and U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots program.

Biogen Idec Foundation in partnership with Triangle Community Foundation awarded 16 grants totaling $24,615 to Triangle area schools and nonprofits as part of its Micro-Grants in Science Education program.
