Jan. 10: New York Life, Haiti Fund, Danforth Foundation, and more

New York Life Foundation increased 2011 charitable giving budget to $12.9 million, up from $11 million in 2010.


Clinton Bush Haiti Fund awarded total of $3.4 million in new grants and investments, all aimed at planting seeds of long-term economic opportunity across Haiti.


In its last major grant before closing, Danforth Foundation, St. Louis, will give $70 million to Donald Danforth Plant Science Center.


Lowe’s and the Lowe’s Charitable and Educational Foundation donating total of $1 million to four environmentally-focused charities as part of their first online community giving campaign, including $100,000 each to American Forests, Keep America Beautiful, National Park Foundation and Water.org, with remaining $600,000 to be distributed based on percentage of consumer votes each charity gets in online voting.
