Vassar College announced comprehensive fundraising campaign that already has raised $262 million in contributions and commitments toward $400 million goal.


Lake Institute on Faith and Giving, Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University, accepting applications for 2011 Lake Doctoral Dissertation Fellowship, $22,000 award for a Ph.D. candidate working in the fields of faith and giving or religion and philanthropy; applications accepted through January 31, 2011.


John Hewko, former partner, international law firm Baker & McKenzie, named general secretary, Rotary International.


Sharon Alpert promoted to newly created position of senior director for programs and strategy, Surdna Foundation, and to new senior staff team to oversee foundation operations; team also includes Phillip Henderson, president, Marc de Venoge, chief financial officer.


Judith Ann Biggs, former director of development, Parents Television Council, named vice president of development, U.S. Veterans Initiative.


Rural Development Institute, Seattle, changing name to Landesa.
